The setting: Sheltered by a green screen of giant rain trees, curtained off from the noise of rolling traffic, the groans of the sick in two neighbouring hospitals, and sheltered from, the marginalized pavement dwellers, facing the harsh reality of a scorching sun or the blighting cold , PRAGNYALY stands as a witness to aged Religious, who have dedicated their total lives to God and the service of India. Many of these religious have retired without a pension. For them Pragnyaly is a beacon of hope. Currently Pragnyaly houses 11 RscJs whose age range is 61-90 years.Members of the Society of the Sacred Heart, an International Congregation dedicated to spreading the Love of God made visible in their service of humanity in the field of education, that is holistic and transformative. The latter covers a vast spectrum of formal and non-formalEducation including rural development. The Book of Kings in the Bible describes Wisdom as the friend of human beings. Pragnyaly, the Infirmary and home for retired sisters is a friend. Bonding with like-minded collaborators Supported by well-wishers Keeping alive the memory of St. Madeleine Sophie in whose footsteps we walk. Transforming an environment into a home where Justice and Mercy meet and Connectedness with Nature and care for Mother Earth promote new life for all, especially the sick, marginalised and needy. Our cherished ministry is hospitality. Guests are welcome. The doors are open to ex-students, relatives, friends, benefactors, who primarily come to share our life of prayer and community living. Community signalizes persons from different cultural and social backgrounds can live together in peace and harmony. Our service is on-going. Of the current community one, aged 90 is director of a school for poor dalits and tribals; another 84 is counselor in a Jesuit school; another 79 is Director of a Jesuit Trust; another 69 is in charge of the kitchen and serves on the Parish Council; another 61, is counselor in a school. Many retired sisters are waiting to come to Pragnyaly but we Need to count on your prayers and financial support

We are a small, diverse and inclusive group, welcoming in our midst a variety of socio-cultural backgrounds, ages and temperaments. Primarily an educational congregation, our earliest ventures were in the field of education

Sophia College for Women in Mumbai was our first foundation in 1941, and remains the institution with which we are most often associated. The College has continued to grow in the years since then, and while some sisters continue to work there, a number have moved on into other areas of service. Today, the range includes Schools, Colleges& Nursery Schools.
